About the society

Connection with a little more care around it.

G.E.M. Society exists for people who are ready to bring curiosity, discernment, and warmth to the way they meet. The experience is deliberately slower than a dating app and more personal than a matching quiz.

What we believe

Good connection needs somewhere good to land.

01

Depth over volume

A smaller, more considered room makes space for better questions.

02

Privacy is part of care

Your story should be shared at the pace and level you choose.

03

The process matters

Good connection is not only about who you meet, but how you meet.

Dr. Deneice Wickens, DNP

Co-Founder & Chief Readiness Officer

Dr. Deneice brings more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of human behavior, healthcare, leadership, and high-stakes decision-making.

A doctoral-prepared healthcare executive, entrepreneur, and psychiatric nurse practitioner, Deneice has spent her career understanding how people communicate, make decisions, navigate change, and build healthier patterns in their lives. Her professional path has taken her from emergency and critical care nursing to advanced psychiatric practice, executive leadership, and entrepreneurship, giving her an unusually broad perspective on both human behavior and the demands faced by high-achieving professionals.

She co-founded The G.E.M. Society from a belief that accomplished people deserve a more thoughtful way to approach partnership. Professional success does not automatically create relationship readiness, nor does attraction alone create long-term compatibility.

As GEM’s Chief Readiness Officer, Deneice helps shape the standards, assessments, compatibility experience, and founder-review process that distinguish GEM from traditional matchmaking. Her focus is not on creating perfect people. It is on helping identify people who have the self-awareness, communication capacity, values, lifestyle alignment, and genuine intention required to build something meaningful with another person.

Her work within GEM reflects a simple principle: the quality of the connection matters, but so does the readiness of the people entering it.

John Fox Lipede

Co-Founder & Chief Curation Officer

Fox’s approach to relationships was shaped as much by lived experience as professional leadership.

After an eight-year marriage ended in divorce, Fox entered the relationship that became his current marriage, now five years strong, determined to approach partnership differently. He made counselling, open communication, self-awareness, and emotional wellbeing central to building a healthier and more intentional relationship.

Professionally, Fox has spent 15 years in product and program leadership, progressing to the Director level while also pursuing multiple entrepreneurial ventures. His career has centered on building systems, solving complex problems, and turning ideas into experiences that produce meaningful outcomes.

Those two worlds ultimately came together in The G.E.M. Society.

As Chief Curation Officer, Fox helps shape how GEM evaluates and curates potential connections, looking beyond attraction and surface-level compatibility to the areas that actually influence a shared life: values, communication, lifestyle, financial perspectives, emotional wellbeing, relationship expectations, and long-term vision.

His goal is to help build a better way for accomplished people to find one another, one grounded in substance, intentionality, and compatibility that has the potential to last.
